Pannier protection from BMW

Post by Steve398 »

Hi
In a rash moment I ordered the rubber/plastic and hideously expensive pannier protection guards.
£155 later I have 4 bits of plastic with some thin allegedly sticky bits to press in non-indicated positions against the pannier… no cleaning wipes, no instructions.
I appreciate it’s probably meant to be self evident but with these things you get one chance, try and remove to replace them elsewhere and the damn things will undoubtedly fall off.
Impressed? No… just a warning really, don’t bother.

I’ve used the BMW skid protection on both my 1600gt and 1200rt, I can honestly say they work, I’ve had in my weaker moments a couple zero speed tipovers with only a little scratching on the protectors and obviously protected the paint
Takes a little planning on their install before you pull the tape off, some swabs dipped in alcohol to clean the surface and your good to go
One tip, remove and lay panniers on their side
