2022 R1250RT - ACC Later?

Hi all,

Last year I bought a brand new 2021 R1250RT. Made it to just about 5k miles then totaled it coming around a blind corner and hitting a deer in the road. I'm fine - my gear did the job, but as I said, the bike was totaled. Geico took great care of me - gave me what I paid out the door with the bike (less taxes).

So here we are, 2022, and I'm looking to replace the bike. I spoke with my dealer and they said none of the 2022 RTs have the Adaptive Cruise Control due to the chip shortage. He said BMW believes the bike can later be retrofitted with the feature.

Does anyone think that's realistic, or are they just being salesman? My 2021 had the feature and on the long rides I did on the highway (not that many, fortunately) it was amazing. Worked beautifully.

Thanks.

Cruise can be fitted to all that I have seen and the way the technology and manufacturers are going is its one wiring loom with all the plugs already there for whatever accessories/equipment to be fitted and its almost plug and play

They do it like this to cut down on costs

They then plug it in to the diagnostics and tell the ECU's its fitted

Before you pull that trigger, you might want to get something in writing from the dealer/BMW. I sure would like to know what it was going to cost me and who was going to do the installation.
