USB / phone mounting

Post by Deejie »

Hi
New here.
Just got my hands on a 2013 ex police model.
Can anyone point me towards a handlebar mount & usb power options?
I’ve seen an eBay twin USB plug for the fairing socket at c. £30 ... or, should I get to the local BMW dealer?
Any advice very welcome, cheers!

I would for the cheaper option. I picked one up from AliExpress for @$10 about 2 years ago. It has 2 ports and has a LED voltage gauge. It works just fine.

Would that be the same or similar to this one from NN in the UK, Nippy Normans twin USB adaptor with voltmeter

I'm not familiar with phone mounts, but do have a handlebar RAM mount on another bike (not an RT) for a sat. nav.

There might be something suitable from RAM Mounts UK, Motorcycling (ram-mount.co.uk)

An R1200RT search gives two options, Search - r1200rt (ram-mount.co.uk)

Replacing one of the handlebar bolts is probably the most robust solution, 1" Ball Motorcycle Base with Hole and M8 Screw (ram-mount.co.uk)

Normski makes and sells a RAM mount that attaches through the clutch pivot https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrvHl_pp3Zk

Thanks folks - much appreciated.

I've taken an exploratory approach and bough 2 usb ports and a handlebar extender bolt  for a traditional handlebar mount..(I'll include links to similar items) But I may go RAM at some point

I have a 2006 and have just purchased a phone mount from Ultimate Addons, it mounts onto handlebars using a U bolt it comes with 2 different sized U bolts, didn't see much vibration from it and its well constructed. My only criticism of it is there is no buttons on side but the screen protector/front cover is touch sensitive but with glove off, cheers Paul

A quad lock fastened to the dash with double sided tape provides a phone mount out of the weather and conveniently close below the normal riding position field of vision. I have ridden 4000kms in the last 5 weeks and phone is operating perfectly.
