Fuel range

Nearly got caught out today my first long trip out on my rt1200 trundling along the motorway got to 40miles left in the tank and thought I'll pull over in 3 miles and refill.Immediately the low fuel warning light came on and then 30 secs later it cut out! Just had enough sloshing it around to make it the last mile to refuel! I won't be doing that again!
