Forum transfer

Post by Stu »

Hi all

Some of you may have been wondering what is going on with this as I agreed to take over the running of it

So just as an update I now have an admin account and the domains and access to all the files and database.

So with all that in mind I will start the transfer to my own server in due course and as a result you will see periods of downtime. At the minute I cannot put a timeframe as to when it will happen as I will need to do some testing first.

Once all this is done I will then start looking at the forum software and decide whether to stick with the current setup and update it or move to new software that I am used to working with.

I am open to suggestions etc so if you have any ideas then feel free to fire away

I have run forums for a lot of years and do know what works and what doesn't etc but I would try and avoid changing things if its not in the interest of the members

Unfortunately though with the evolution of software front end and back end sometimes it will be a case of having to change!

I will work with everyone as much as possible

Bit early but along with the country flag could you also have a space for where in the country we are from? May make meet ups easier.

A simple location in your profile would be easy enough to do

Sakm. Thanks so much for the update and for taking on this task. I was getting a bit anxious with the lack of new posts, I was beginning to think the worst. As for the technical explanations you offer, I've only just precious my first ever mobile phone, so all that tech stuff goes way over my head, but not beneath my notice. By the way, I'm having trouble setting up my personal hotspot, can you help me with that?? Just kidding. Keep up the good work.

How do you add your location?. I've added it to my profile but it still doesn't show on the forum pages.
