Recently bought a 2006 1200RT. The ESA preload adjustment is not working. When I change from rider to rider + pillion etc, the shock doesn’t move. It’s pretty clear.
The preload modes change without any error on the screen, but the setting also doesn’t flash when selected.
Applying current from a battery to the ESA motor connectors make it work and I see But it doesn’t work on the normal way.
Read that a “reset” might solve this. Is it really a reset or recalibration, or is it a software update?
A mechanic at bmw told me that it’s a software updated but he can’t guarantee that the control unit (ie the hardware) will work with the new software. Of course he wants to sell me a new suspension that is super expensive.
Does this reset exist? Is it a software update or a reset? What are my options? Thanks
