Service costs
Took my 19 plate RT into North Oxford today for a 12k service (its done 22000). 450 quid including 20 quid loan bike charge. I'm not convinced that this represents good value for money but perhaps that's the going rate.
Chap on the service desk told me that the key battery is getting low would I like it replaced for a fiver? No I don't think so but when I got home found that it had been invoiced anyway.

Re: Service costs
Yesterday we had the rear pads changed on one of our Blood Bikes, with discount and no cost to fit £62 for pads and the spring plate.

Re: Service costs
Standard 12k service: Oil and filter, air filter, final drive oil, valve check and spark plugs.
Oh yes, and a key battery that was twice the price of the Duracell ones in tescos.
Suppose at at least I had a "free" coffee.
Next time I'll phone round a few dealers and see what the best price is. However, I suspect there's not much to be saved.

Re: Service costs
I paid £270 at the end of August for engine oil and filter, final drive oil change, air filter change and valve check. They didn't do the drain valve thing on the final drive though? I'm not bothered coz I've seen quite a few crap results posted on facie, so I'm hoping they'll have had chance to practice doing a good job.

Re: Service costs
My last service in May cost me £503, that did include two new Mitchelin Pilot Road 4’s, though.

Re: Service costs
Looking back at my bike service history, it seems a normal yearly service is on average £440. 99% done at North Oxford. Hence since i purchased the bike, I service it myself. Searching around i can make up a yearly service kit for around £80 incl oil. It may take me 2 days but i know every nut and bolt is tight and everything is greased.
Re: Service costs
I have been reading about service charges by BMW , I served my time as a mechanic and will only use best oils and service kit for my bike and was interested on trading my 1200 in for a 1250 but the agents I went to said because I serviced it myself they would need to use a trader to give me a price on my bike , so this is just to let you know how you may be treated if you want to get the satisfaction of servicing your bike yourself, I can understand in a way but all they need to do is take the bike in and check it out themselves

Re: Service costs
If it was a main dealer they will only sell bikes with dealer service history so they wouldn't have been able to sell it on their forecourtKen C wrote: ↑Fri Nov 03, 2023 10:54 pm I have been reading about service charges by BMW , I served my time as a mechanic and will only use best oils and service kit for my bike and was interested on trading my 1200 in for a 1250 but the agents I went to said because I serviced it myself they would need to use a trader to give me a price on my bike , so this is just to let you know how you may be treated if you want to get the satisfaction of servicing your bike yourself, I can understand in a way but all they need to do is take the bike in and check it out themselves

Re: Service costs
I was charged £18 for a loan bike for my 600 mile service, the reason for the charge was Insurance cover, apparently it's the admin charge. I decided as the bike was new and under warranty that I would take out the service plan and opted for the 5 year one at a cost of £1350, looking at people being charged £450 I'm thinking I may have got a bargain !!
