UK based accessory suppliers?

Hi all - as I’ve had my 2016 RT for two whole weeks now, the search for accessories is in full swing. I‘ve spotted Nippy Normans, but quite a bit of the OE kit only seems to be available from Europe (or USA). Does anyone have post-Brexit experience of buying stuff from the Continent?
Next on the list is high-level stop light for the top box.

The high-level stop light for the top case is available from UK BMW dealers, some do mail order, e.g.Bahnstormer have an online store.

I have ordered from the EU since brexit and have been stung once or twice before

I'm not sure what the limit is but I am led to believe anything under a set amount doesn't attract customs

I think it's around £130 before your liable for duty/tax.I ordered the full Arrow system for my RT from Italy, thought I'd had a right result untill I got the email/letter from DHL. That was an expensive lesson learned :?

So the top box light example I found for £149 (€182) with delivery and taxes works out at £213! Found some sites that appear to be UK based (uk.com or co.uk addresses) but shipping from Europe, so it would be easy to get caught out if you didn’t spot the small print…

Bahnstormers £160 with free delivery - not sure why spending that on a strip of LED lights suddenly looks like a bargain :)

One thing to remember about parcel delivery companies is that they will often pay the import duty "on your behalf" to speed up the delivery process, then hold your item until you pay them back said duty PLUS the VAT for doing so. :o

Some companies on eBay from America include custom charges. My youngest ordered some pickups for his guitar for £160 GBP. These weren't available in the UK. He bought from the seller in the USA that included tracking and customs. On delivery, he paid no taxes/import duty.

Duty free limit £137.00 but it would still attract VAT 20% that said the seller can export it VAT free so the price should be less than they sell locally in the EU

Motorcycle helmets are classified as Protective Equipment and as such Zero-Rate for VAT. The are some good deals at our EU cousins and not having to pay VAT can add to the deal. Of course you have to be one-hundred percent certain of exactly what you want as returns aren't so easy, but if you are, there are good deals to be had.
