Keyless dash warning

A couple of days ago I went out and turned the ignition on via a keyless fob and noticed that there was a dash warning icon showing a key with a half empty battery. So I replaced it (as on page 57 of the handbook), today I went out and the display is the same.
Am I missing something obvious here… suggestions please?

I had the same the other week
Replaced it with a new battery that I had for a while and it was still showing the same!
I replaced it with another and all was well

Had something similar, warning came on so bought a pack of cheap batteries from Poundland. Got through two in a couple of weeks. Not sure how long these things sit on the shelf or the quality to begin with
Bought a Duracell and it lasted for over a year.

These were Tesco specials, I'll stop being a tight-arse and buy Duracell then, I kinda wondered if this may be the case. Thanks Sakm & MikeS

It was a duracell I put in which still showed flat
I think it was a Panasonic that worked
I'm not sure how ING the duracell had been in the cupboard though could be a couple of years for all I know

Makes me feel vaguely better about paying £3 for 4 Tesco ones even if they were half flat then
I rather hoped that with the high turnover of stock in Tescos I might some with a bit of charge.... maybe not then.
