ABS pump starting to fail? 1200RT 2006 model

Hey everyone,
had the dreaded abs light warning come on. Noticed the rear brake totally without servo power (barely able to slow me down). Front brakes still working.
Went to my local bmw mechanic. Computer shows the front brake circuit is within parameters, but rear brake is giving the error. Upon further inspection, when idle, connected to the computer rear brake caliper shows lower pressure then rear brake pedal. Pressure at the calipers is a little bit below 16 bar, and the rear brake pedal is at 17 bar.
Mechanic checked also if there was maype rear tire alignment issues that would mess with abs sensor, checked the calipers, and concluded that only culprit is the abs pump (i think my model year has the ABS-I system).
Can you think of anything else that could be responsible for low rear brake pressure? Anything at all i can maybe check? The new pump will be around 1900 eur at the main bmw dealer.
cheers
edit, typo
