Morning all,
Total noob question, what are the service intervals for a 2018 R1200RT? The bike has done 13k and was serviced 12 months ago, but only a basic service. Something in my grey matter suggests that 12k is a large service with valve clearances needing checking?
12.000 miles (20.000km) service (40.000 km / 60.000 km):
Reading fault memory with BMW Motorrad diagnostic system
Change oil when engine at regular operating temperature, renew oil filter
Tightening cylinder head
Check/adjust valve clearances
Replacing spark plugs
Replacing intake air filter
Oil change, rear wheel drive
Visual inspection of the brake pipes, brake hoses and connections
Checking front and rear brake pads and discs for wear
Changing brake fluid, front and rear brakes
Visual inspection of the hydraulic clutch system
Checking clutch fluid level
Checking/tightening hose clamps
Checking coolant level
Checking ease of movement of centre stand; greasing centre stand pivot mount
Checking ease of movement of side stand; greasing side stand pivot mount
Checking security of rear wheel screws
Checking rear wheel bearing play by tilting wheel
Checking swinging arm bearing
Spoke wheels: Checking rims, hubs and spoke tension; adjusting if necessary
Cast wheels: checking condition of wheels
Function test, engine start suppression
Checking battery charge state
Checking lights and signalling equipment, telltale and control lights, instruments, horn
Checking tire pressures and tread depth
Checking operation of handbrake and footbrake
Checking operation of clutch, gear change and steering
Test ride as final inspection and function check
Setting service-due date and service countdown distance
Confirming BMW Service in on-board documentation
