Sena SRL2 speakers / swap ?

Post by Panman40 »

There’s a fair bit on the web stating that the srl2 Sena for shoei lids has crap speakers and having had ours for over 2 years I completely agree!.
It seems Sena have upgraded all their comms with better hd speakers except the srl  ,
So my question is has anyone or does anyone know if it’s actually possible to swap the srl2 speakers for something better ?.
I know the wires are very thin and you can’t simply unplug them but as Sena are not doing anything about this I’m happy to get the soldering iron out  .

It's a bit too technical for me but is the problem with the SRL2 the speakers or volume output. I have read that the volume can be increased via the Sena app, whatever that is, or perhaps see if HD speakers can be fitted to the SRL2.

Never had a problem with mine and the volume is spot on.Mines connected to me Tomtom 550,never had an issue.
I see Helmet City are now giving the option of the mesh set up.

It’s the quality and total lack of any bass whatsoever, you can use the volume boost in the Sena app for more volume but that seems to make things worse.

I’m connected to the wife’s srl and a tomtom, it’s adequate for that but when I’m on my own I do like a little music and for that the sound is terrible, tinny with no bass, it’s well documented. Such a shame as I’d never have gone this route had I known 2 yrs ago.

When my shoei arrives back at the dealer from a warranty repair he’s offered to fit the new Sena srl2 mesh and pair it with my phone so I can listen to some music. I’m not sure just how much better the Harmon Kadon speakers are :?: , No doubt it’ll be nothing like listening when actually riding the bike though. Also I’m not that happy giving Sena more money because the srl 2 never had the hd speaker upgrade , for some reason it’s an all in one unit with no plugs so if something breaks or the battery dies you throw it away  .
I also don’t know if this mesh thing eats more battery or not… I probably wouldn’t be using that part of it though. I’m really not sure what to do!.
