Saw these advertised for sale for the R1200GS
Its a modification to the centre stand in exchange for a lot of money
It allows you to insert a lock through it so you can't take the bike off the centre stand which I thought was a good idea to stop any opportunist thieves while out touring etc
The centre stand was off to be powder coated anyway so I thought sod it whats the worst that can happen
Here's the result

That's different but I reckon if they give the padlock a goodenuff slap with a hammer it would snap off at the join.Has it been tested in anyway.

When I tacked it on I had to hammer it straight as it was slightly out of alignment and that was a job in itself!
Now its fully welded I really can't see it moving anywhere at all
And the lock is impossible to bolt crop and it won't break with a hammer either
Remember its to stop the opportunist thief not someone who would be fully equipped

Simple but effective. Should be a standard fitment.

One of the z1000 touring model used to have standard fitment centre stand lock in the 90s. A new bike/scooter has one fitted, recently read but cant remember model. Always thought a good idea.

Just need to refit the springs without damaging the powder coating.

Easy!
I still need to make something to stretch the springs to make life easy but its still going to damage it slightly once its fitted and the pressure is on the spring holder

Just use a spring puller and the correct technique.

Or if you're not handy with welding tools -
https://www.cymarcbikeparts.co.uk/r1200 ... 1105-p.asp
Once again this is intended for the GS/GSA, but I can’t see why they couldn’t also do RT’s. So I’ve emailed them and asked the question.

…and the answer was:
Thank you for contacting us.
No I'm sorry I'm afraid not. The main stand locking mod is a GS/A LC mod only..
