I’ve just picked up my first BMW (2005 R1200RT) and there is a bag of cables with it. Two helmet sets by the look of it and about 4 din leads. Also a lead with a small plastic box with wires coming out. I have no idea if it fits to the bike or not? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh and I absolutely love the bike after 24 hours!!!

I have an Autocom fitted to my helmet and Camhead RT for sat. nav. voice prompts, how can I help.

Hopefully you can make since of these pics. Where would these plug into etc? Please bear in mind you are talking to someone who has never used an intercom on a bike. Cheers.

There is no doubt that it is Autocom stuff. From the spaghetti, it looks like you have got a couple of helmet headsets with mics & speakers and some extension leads. I don't recognise the black box with A, B & C on it. This box could well be what is called an isolation adaptor.

Found this isolation lead, looks the same but with only one input.



Having said that, without a control main hub unit it's probably all useless.
Have you looked for a unit anywhere on the bike, mine is under the pillion seat.

Hi @David. heres a couple of pics. I do have the unit under the saddle. So is it just a case of connecting the headsets vis the extensions to the leads under the saddle? If so, what is the best route out from under the saddle? Hope this makes sense? Cheers.

Which Autocom control main hub is it. The two 7 pin DIN sockets will be the rider & pillion connections. I used to use my system for rider to pillion helmet comms. and sat. nav. Now only use it solo for sat. nav. voice prompts, therefore don't have the headset mic. connected. For the rider, the lead comes out between the seat and tank. For the pillion, I had the lead coming out between the two seats.

I’ll try connecting it all up tomorrow. It’s raining now. I only want it for comms and radio so It’ll be a bonus if it’s working. Thanks for the help and advice. It’s much appreciated.

@David. I've just plugged it all in. And successfully got it to work. However. The connections are a bit suspect!! It drops out a bit with cable movement. I suppose it’s to be expected with such old wiring. I’m going to persevere with the system for a bit but I expect I’ll upgrade to a Bluetooth system in a short while. Thanks again for the help.

Get rid of all the crap and go Bluetooth from the start

Thank you for the feedback. Try some contact cleaner between the plugs & sockets. Nothing lasts forever, I've had to replace one or two leads. Whilst the Autocom is serviceable, I'll keep it. I like the fact that it is bike powered, no battery to charge up. If and when my sat. nav. packs up, I might be forced down the BT route, although you can get an Autocom BT dongle.
