Miserable isn’t it?
A few years ago we were on our way back from a month-long Italian tour where the temps were averaging 40+c every day, we stopped overnight in St Quentin, where it was still in the 30’s as we went to bed.
The following day we were shocked to find the temp had dropped to 17c, it felt like mid winter! We donned virtually every bit of clothing we could and shivered all the way to the Chunnel…
17c right now would feel like high summer

Give it a few months and it will snow in June then the drought warning will be back.
Trust me I am a retired Doctor and lecturer at Oxford University of Structural and Mechanical/Electrical engineering.

It's when the BMW's are unwrapped from their winter slumper, carefully inspected, battery's put in place, tyre pressure's checked, oil dipped and the rider then steps back in awe of the machine. This is only done when the forcast has been checked for the week leading up to this auspicious occasion, any sign of rain and the ritual is mothballed till sun is guaranteed.
The rider, happy with his lot then retires to the bungalow to tell Doris was a magnificent machine he rides. In to the study to dress him self in the obligatory Motorrad grey suit,Schuberth helmet adorned with the 2way multi channel intercom. Last but not least the "POLITE" fluorescent high viz vest is put on,the look is complete.Slow stroll to the stead, picking up the necessary travel necessities, Werthers original, handkerchief (with initials that Doris has lovingly sewn in)gauntlet gloves, another pack of Werthers originals, bifocals, phone(to let Doris know everything is alright, every half hour).
Then you stand ready, sweating in anticipation, this is it,the big day has arrived. You climb aboard, press the tit, sit there letting the BMW rock you gently, then your off.Standing on the pegs as the man on the tellybox did,Tesco in your sites.
THE SEASON HAS STARTED
2 weeks later its all put away till the following year.
The season is over
