Has anyone used the bar risers you can buy on AliExpress.
Any good or bad reviews on them ?

I bought a pair for my 07. Well made just like the more expensive "W" ones. The Only advice i would give for peace of mind is to buy some good bolts to replace the unknown quality of the Chinese ones that the riser comes with them

I have them on my 17RT. They work well. I was a little nervous about their strength, but after dropping my bike twice and righting it using the bars, I am no longer concerned.

I have a set i plan on putting on soon but was wondering what tips you may have for separating the handgrip portion from the aluminium riser? I watched a couple youtube vids and was wondering if anyone had success with heating the joint to help the separation. Cheers from Eastern Canada!

Getting the old bars off was difficult. I had to fabricate a tool to separate them.

See if anybody rents the tool for the job.I hired one and it makes the job so much easier,well worth the money

That's who I rented off(the fella asking is across the water)seems to have put his price up,i only paid £15.So much easier with that weapon

Fifteen quid would be a bargain but i'm in the willy-wags of Canada and to obtain that device would be about $500 Canadian not including the cost of shipping it back. Here's a screen shot of what appeared after clicking on the link you offered.
The company that manufactured aforementioned device (Ilium works) seems to have dropped off the map as their website no longer works. The brake pedal extension that i bought a while ago that was manufactured by them was only obtainable through Ebay as there was no stock elsewhere.

I've looked around for a puller in the past but i may have more luck if i try again at this time. I had hoped someone could comment on their experience with warming the aluminum part of the assembly with a heat gun.

The other thing i should have asked is if anyone has noticed any sort of adhesive or locking compound used to hold the bar end in place.

I only paid £15 too back in July, I did buy the Ilium risers from him too.

Do any of the wires or cables need to be rerouted or changed when fitting the risers.

No,at least not on the 1200.

Thanks for the reply. I finally found a post where one gent mentioned using heat and that the bar could just be 'tapped' out. See post #16 https://forums.bmwmoa.org/showthread.ph ... sers/page2.

I'm re-thinking whether i'll actually install these risers. I already have the blocks under the bars and adding the riser will probably necessitate adding longer brake/clutch hoses. I could get away with stacking risers on my R1100RT but this R1200RT doesn't seem to have that 'flexibility'. Once my shop gets cleared out and the lift freed up, i'll remove the body panels and see if there is any leeway. Cheers! Here's a pic of the current hindrance.
