Wife was Punched

My wife work for the NHS here in south wales, and last night she was working on A&E.
She came home this morning very upset, when i asked her why, she told me she was punched in the face.
I asked who had done this and she told me it was a chap in his 70's. My wife is 55 same as me.
He dropped his glasses on the floor and when she went to pick them up for him, he shouted NO and punched her.
I asked if it was logged by the ward or security and she said yes. I told her to ring 101 and report it to the police.
This is not the first time she has been hurt at work, so why should they get away with it.
It has now been logged with the police and she has to go to the police station on Wednesday.
We may not always be happy with the NHS, But the staff are doing a job trying to help us and save lives.
Some people don't see it that way.

My wife retired last year after 35 years frontline NHS including Emergency Medicine. Over the years she has been assaulted many times at work. Nearly every case was due to alcohol or mental illness. Every night shift A&E always had Police in attendance. Sorry to hear about your wife assault, the whole system is broken and this isn't just the NHS this is society.

Sorry to hear about your wife. Anyone who could do anything like that is despicable and needs to be punished to the fullest extent of the law. I have nothing but respect and admiration for the NHS. A week before Christmas my wife had a heart attack, we could not understand what was wrong so I took her to A & E, Saturday night so it was packed at 00.30, Checked her in at reception and within a minute of sitting down she was taken for assessment then straight to resuscitation where they proceeded to treat her before sending her to Leeds to have two stents inserted. She is making a good recovery thanks to the NHS.

Could not agree more with your sentiments.
