Abba Stand

As i have 3 abba stands. one for the workshop, one for the garage and one spare if both the others are being used.
Now last week i bought the fitting kit for the RT. Today as i need to finish cleaning the RT after my first ride, i thought i would use the abba stand so i can clean the underside and centre stand.
I put the RT on it main stand first before tried to use the abba stand.
The RT is the same weight as the Gen2 Hayabusa, so i thought it would be easy to put on the abba stand.
I first tried with the panniers still on the bike (5kg in each). Right that was never going to happen.
I then removed the panniers and tried again. Nope still could not put it on the abba stand.
I then removed the top box (3kg inside) and tried again. This time with a bit of grunting i did it.
Now i got to thinking why the hell it was so hard to do. Then i realised why.
The RT has more weight on the back half as its shaft drive, and the swinging arm pivet point is lower on the RT.

Anyone else tried using an Abba Stand with there RT.
If yes how did you find putting the RT on it.

I’m about to find out as I’ve just bought one.. did you tie the footpegs back?

My RT with panniers and top box is 99% of its parked life, on its side stand. It is the most awkward balanced bike to get on the centre stand in all my 50 years of riding motorcycles. Yes I know the rear plank of wood trick makes it easier, but still hassle.

Try getting a Model 120 Panther onto its centre stand and you will realise that the RT is a doddle, by comparison. The Panther is much lighter than the RT, too!

No, the Abba Stand does not touch the pegs so i did not tie then back.

The only real difficulty I experience is that my garage approach slopes down and away… mind you I don’t have a topbox.

The worst bikes for putting on a centre stand tends to be the small ones like a C90 Honda!

My Varadero is the hardest bike i have for putting on the main stand.
I have to remove the panniers when i do use its main stand.
The RT is easy to put on its main stand even with the panniers still fitted and 5kg of weight in each.
My Gen1 Hayabusa is very easy to put on its main stand. The hardest part was finding a main stand to fit

Anyhow here are some photos of the RT on the abba stand .
As you can see the stand does not touch my pegs. I do have the lowering brackets fitted.
But even without the lowering brackets the pegs would just be pushed back a bit the way they fold.

Off the UKGSER site, there was another on there this morning but it’s gone now. They do come up fairly regularly.
