Can I use this gps mount?

I just bought a 2013 r1200rt se. It’s the outgoing model without water cooling.
It has this GPS mount but no GPS unit. What would you recommend I do with it?
Find a BMW gps to use with it.
Can it be used with a different gps or iPhone.
Should I remove it?
I do want gps but using my iPhone for it has let me down previously in areas with no phone signal. I don’t have much money to spend so anything I need I’ll be looking for on eBay.
Thanks for any advice.

Personally if it was me I would buy a standalone sat nav like the Garmin or TomTom
There will be plenty of people along soon enough to tell you of the issues of the expensive BMW Nav range and why to avoid it
You should be able to remove the mount and fit a different sat nav there

I've now had a Garmin Zumo 660 for 13 years, it's been faultless. A 660 will fit and take power from the BMW mount. The remote buttons will not work.
Whereabouts in the UK are you.

I have the same/similar mount on my bike,I use the TomTom rider 550
You can get various brackets for different devices to fit whatever you like.I'm buggered if I can remember the name of the set up but I'm convinced it's German.

Ah you're talking about a mount
I am talking about an adaptor that allows you to mount most sat navs to the nav prep and take its power from there

Thanks for all of the replies.
The TomTom 550 and Zumo 660 were mentioned there, I see there are a few of those cheap on eBay. Can the maps still be updated?

That's exactly what I use with my R1250RT and Garmin XT. It looks as OEM as you're going to get.
