Why do we think buying a new mattress will give us a better nights sleep.
So our new mattress came yesterday, and last night was the worst sleep i've had in years.
Every time my wife moved i woke up and every time i moved she woke up.
I've been up since 2.30am as i could not take anymore.
We've never had this problem with any new mattress before.
Just waiting for my wife now to get up to see if we should change it.
Our old mattress was bought in 2014, so being 10 years old i thought it was time for a new one.
I know it take a week or so to get use to a new mattress, but waking eachother up when moving is not good.

I watched something about this a fair few years ago!
When you change your bed or stay somewhere new like a hotel they reckon it can take up to 3 nights to get used to it before you sleep properly

Re: New Mattress
Because my wife suffers from a slipping hiatus hernia we we recently advised to lift the head of the bed at least 5”.
As a more workable alternative we bought a Putnam mattress tilter which is a large wedge of foam that sits under the mattress and does the same job, but doesn’t put any stress on the bed base.
It’s now been a couple of weeks getting used to it and it looks and initially felt seriously weird, but it works and we now sleep well on the wonk!

This is the one, damned pricey for what it is, but she no longer suffers the crippling pains in her chest and back each morning.

Re: New Mattress
I still have our old bed frame. I could use the parts from it to make a wedge shape like that to fit on the new frame.

Re: New Mattress
That's intresting. I have a Hiatus Hernia as well. Had it for about 8 years, no one to tilt the bed up. Well all they told me was ah you have a Hiatus Hernia after taking the camera out.Still waiting for a call back.Lucky I have a full electric bed.
I wait till the wife falls asleep then Fold the both ends up on her side. She looks like a little Taco.

Re: New Mattress
The problem for my wife is that in some cases the H/Hernia can slip up into her diaphragm causing intense discomfort and pain, the tilted bed along with a suitable diet has certainly helped.Doctor T wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2024 1:49 pm That's intresting. As I understand it can be remedied with surgery in severe cases… but witnessing the pain my wife has been in I couldn’t imagine what a severe case would be like.

Re: New Mattress
Mine only gives me slight pain now and then. I've only got a small tear in my diaphragm from what I gather, so I am lucky not to be as bad as your wife.
