I'm picking up a new to me, very low milage, 2016 R1200RT tomorrow.
I'm interested in putting on some type of engine protection, cylinder head cover, crash bar, etc
I'm sure there are many to choose from but I'm hoping there are a few favorites among the people who have experience with these bikes.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide

Did you get any response? I have the same question - just bought a 2016 and those unprotected cylinders look very exposed... What did you decide to go with? TY

I've got cheap Chinese set copy from Aliexpress of a well know company that starts with a "W". Couple of drops later, I can say they are strong and well made that's for the front and rear. Some say they can be a sod to line up but mine fitted without any problems.

If you do search for "engine guards", you'll find what others are using for their RT's.

The options are essentially cylinder head guards and/or crash bars.
Cylinder head guards
These can be a full cushioned heavy duty plastic

Or
A plastic cushion/half metal guard such as those from BMW
https://www.bahnstormer.co.uk/product/r ... er-guards/
Other makes are available.
Crash protection bars
Obtainable from Heed/Wunderlich/Touratech/Ilium/R&G… plus copies from Aliexpress/Temu etc
** there’s a set of Heed crash bars in the sale section here:

Heed are both inexpensive, good quality and incorporate a bash plate for your sump.
Wunderlich are more expensive but popular if you feel price = quality.
Ilium are even more expensive but have the advantage that they don’t need to be removed for the valves to be done on a service.
R&G/Touratech I don’t know much about.
There’s a lot more information on the internet via Google search and other forums.
