Tyre Change Charge

I was pleased to have found a new set of Road 6 GTs for £320, I removed my wheels and took them to my local bike mechanic for the tyres to be changed over.
Mrs Sullivj kindly collected them for me whilst I was at work. I was shocked to learn that to change two tyres and disposal of the old ones was £70!!!!
At least I'm all set for our group trip to France, even if I will only be able to drink tap water for the week!

Along with your extortionate garage you relly need to consider moving from that silly village. Glad your set for this years RT meet up though.

What equipment do you use to change the tyre? I’m considering getting a machine to DIY

I use one of these
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131450135368 ... lUQAvD_BwE
If you look about you can get them a lot cheaper
You also need a no damage alloy bar like this
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/256485051274 ... BMiO3KjO9j
I have never marked a rim with these and I can change tyres in minutes once the wheel is of the bike
I also have a static wheel balancer again which are pretty cheap

Thanks Sakm. With 5 bikes on the go, I think I should invest.

My local tyre shop charges £10 per loose wheel. But that's without disposal. West Sussex charge £7 per tyre.
£70

My last tyre change was £20 a wheel including disposal, and that was a drive in job.

Just a local tyre garage. No fancy stuff. Only downside he can't balance M/C tyres

Last year, I got a pair of Road 6s fitted to my VFR by Billy’s Motorcycles based in Pulborough. They charged me £400 for a ride in/ride out price. Not sure what the prices look like this year. Higher, no doubt…
I’d like to change the RT from Metzeler Z8s to Road 6s.
