Cell phone cubby removal (2022)

Hello all,

Just picked up a 2022. My cell phone is a tiny bit too long to fit in the cell phone cubby, but if I can remove that sliding lock mechanism I think it should fit fine.

Anyone ever remove this cubby before? I want to dissemble it to remove the spring/lock mechanism and reinstall it.
There's 1 screw inside the cubby, but there has to be a few more hiding in the back somewhere.

Maybe someone can share a page from the service manual.

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forum

You will probably have to remove the speaker covers to reveal the other screws and possibly the side fairing too

I did exactly what you want to do. You need to remove the side panel to access the screws that secure the compartment in place. Once it's removed from the bike, I found it was a bit delicate to get it opened up as the base piece is sealed to the upper half and needs to be very carefully pried apart. As well, there are some screws securing it together. Once apart, the latch mechanism is easy to remove from the charging pad with just a couple screws. Then you can reassemble the base and upper part and put the bike back together.

Unfortunately I did not take any pictures of the process. Hopefully my explanation is clear enough.
