Shift Lever Enhancement

Post by RPGR90s »

I have a brand new 2024 RT and love it so far.

I had surgery on my left big toe, which was fused last fall and upshifts have been a challenge and exhibit some pain. I was looking for ideas to maybe add some material over the stock rubber shift lever to soften the effort of up-shifting and relieving the pain in my toe.

If you have an ideas, I would appreciate y'all sharing here.

A chiropodist recommended the use of a gel toe protector to relive the pressure/pain caused by abrasion from footwear.

I have some very old Lewis Leathers riding boots with thin uppers and little in the way of a gear change toe pad for up shifts.
They are not as comfortable as the more recent and robust BMW boots with thicker leather and a rubber toe pad.

I would guess that anything softer than the stock rubber on the shift lever wouldn't last long before it is worn out.

Maybe look for steel/composite toe capped motorcycle boots

Motorcycle boot socks cushioned at the toe for comfort/durability may help.

Well fitting boots which prevent the foot moving around inside may spread the load across the toes/foot.
