BMW R1200RT/R1250RT Forum

Hi All.

I have understood that the R120RT is plagued with XM(satelite) and DAB radio issues.
My dealer told me it was a software issue in combo with my google pixel phone (absolute BS)

I don't have the mushroom like the American models do, and i can't find any decent info on to what is wrong with the bike.

The audio drops out every so often and once i leave populated area (highways) it just dies..
any info on this ore fixes are welcome.

Not looking to modify too much as i don't want to void warrenty i still have for the next 2 years. as i have already used it.. A LOT (E-call system is also crap on this bike)

I did some searching.

K1600 share a lot with the RT. Apparently the DAB antenna is located on the top right side of the tank. (don't know if i can post the link to the K1600 Forum to share the "maybe solution"

They need to relocate the antenna from the top of the tank to the side of the bike (cover onder the seat was the chosen location).
Might be a solution, just requested the dealer to relocate the antenna from the top of the tank to the side as described in the K1600 topic
