Hi all,
My name is Alex, 40 and I hail from Bucharest, Romania.
I bought the RT in March this year and I was only able to ride and enjoy it only starting from July since I was recovering from wrist surgery and I had my hand in stuck in a hand brace for 4 months unable to move my fingers or use my hand (the left hand). This happened due to an accident I suffered one year before (a drunk drive crossed the red light and the rest you can guess) and I had a torn ligament in my left wrist. Nasty business but life goes on, as well as riding.
Now before my 2024 RT I had the 2022 Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES with the DCT, 2018 BMW K1600 GT just to name the ones that came before this one.
Now after 3 months of riding and 10 thousand km (6200 miles) I have to say that this is by far the best bike I've ever ridden.
Lighter and more nimble than the big K, but the engine is almost as powerful as that one, great fuel mileage, great tech, comfortable, fast, beautiful.
The only downside? That gearbox is simply awful, agricultural at best.
Anyways, nice too meet you and hopefully I'll keep the RT for a long time.
Cheers,
Alex

A warm welcome to our site. All boxer gearbox's have a gear selection like a 50s tractor
Trust me I am a retired Doctor and lecturer at Oxford University of Structural and Mechanical/Electrical engineering.
