New to me R1200RT-P

I just bought a 2014 R1200RT-P sight-unseen at an auction on the other side of the country. Upon receiving the bike, several things were apparent. Three of the four windshield mounts were broken. It had been stored outside in Sacramento, CA for some time and was filthy. The folks who removed the police gear were lazy and usually just cut wiring rather than do a proper job.
Fortunately, everything except the horn worked properly.
The bike had both of the (police) side cases, and all locks worked with the one key I received. The storage space under the radio cover was surprisingly large and very welcome! Additionally, I found that I could fit a bottle of oil and essential tools behind the seat under the radio mounting plate.
My wife and I flew out to Sacramento, and after receiving the bike, and enjoyed several days taking in the sights while I prepared the bike to be ridden home.
The windshield was fixed in the low position courtesy of tie-wraps from Harbor Freight. The bike got a thorough cleaning and as good of a mechanical check-out as I could do. There was not a tool kit or manual, and I quickly found out that my '2014' model had much more in common with a 2013. Between Amazon and Harbor Freight, I assembled what I needed.
Last Saturday, I began my journey back to Middle Tennessee, some 2400 miles. My wife took a commercial flight home! Suffice it to say that the bike performed magnificently! Five days of riding saw me home through dust, Mojave Desert, freezing cold (almost snow), high crosswinds, and constant bug splatter as the low windshield directed them straight into my face shield!
I am now preparing to do a permanent repair on the windshield mount (I have the new aluminum ones), change fluids and filters, get new tires, and clean up the police equipment removal job, and make her pretty again!
This forum provided an incredible resource during this whole process. I expect I will be consulting you guys often as I enjoy riding my bike.
Thank you,
Andrew
