I gave my R1250RT a panels off really good wash today and noticed quite a lot of specks of black tar stuck to the (silver) engine case, rims and assorted other places. I know the likes of Autoglym sell 'Tar Remover' but before I buy some of theirs (or similar), can the hive mind confirm it's okay to use on the Silver paint BMW use on ther engines & assorted other parts.

I use WD40, it loosens and dissolves the tar, then can be wiped off with a 2nd squirm of WD40, or a foam wash.

Meths or white spirit works and is a lot cheaper

I’ve used it with no problems, if it’s not to stuck on GT85 does the job on the rims.

As above, any light petroleum based liquid should do the trick and is easy to come by, just don't rub too hard and make sure you wipe it off afterword's
