Time for new tyres soon

Currently got 6500 on my bike so new tyres will be a consideration soon. Currently have the standard issue Metzlers but am erring towards Bridgestones as always had them on my Blackbirds and usually managed around 8500 miles on my back.
My question is, what is the difference between the 023 and the 023GT ?

Slightly off subject, what did you think of the metzers?
I've noticed my 14RT has them on (sat in the dealers)... Z8s I think. any good?

I have had no problems at all, good on cornering and under load as well as heavy braking. Far better in the wet than my ability to test them !
My only attraction with the 023,s is the increased longevity :-)

If I may be so bold as to make a suggestion, look at Michelin RP4 GT's. Much better than the bridgestone's that the bike came with

These are now the standard fitment on new RTs, only the GT version which have thicker walls. Supposed to last longer than Z8s on the 1600 so should do well on the RT

Thanks for that, I will certainly look at them :-)

I loved the Bridgestone BT023GT's on my Guzzi and was tempted to fit them to the RT instead of the Metzlers, but went for PR4's on a recommendation.
Now done 2500 miles on the PR4's and found them to be fabulous - especially in the wet (recently toured Ireland so say no more!)
Would definitely recommend the Mitchelins

I like pilot road too. I will need some new tyres shortly and will go for them BUT I am going to see if I can get original pilot roads,
Have you noticed that as they bring out 2s 3s GTs they seem to go up in price by £30 increments a pair.?? ::)
I never had any problems with the original ones.
This new bike has BT021s fitted and I find them a bit twitchy on lines and tarmac overlays running at F36 R42 PSI as the bikes only done 4500 miles I would think they are factory fit

Got caught out in Scotland and had to have a new rear tyre fitted, was running Metzeler Z6's and ended up with a Michelin PR.
Have used Z6's for 7 years, although they do start to break up in the centre (on the rear) when it looks like there is plenty of tread depth left.
The Michelin PR's seemed to be wearing well, then I changed the bike for new (used) one which has Bridgestone 021's on it.
The tyre dealer I use likes Michelins and has recommended PR3's next time, the Originals may be difficult to get hold of and could be old stock, check the date of manufacture.

Over 8000 miles on the Metzler's now so no plans to change them before the new year / early spring as can't see me doing too many miles now in the mean time.

Over 8K miles, which Metzelers are you on, is your riding solo, 2 up or both.

The OEM issue Metzler's ! Mostly solo riding but always with some sort of luggage. 1/2 of those miles were done in a 2 week trip to Austria and back in June.
