I have heard on the grapevine that in UK these will be returned to dealers during the last two weeks of August and the first week of September.

Haven't had a letter. I will pay my dealer a visit tomorrow armed with a big stick.

My dealer had a delivery of fixed shocks this morning. So its just a matter of workshop time to get them all back on the road.

That sounds encouraging. I've not checked with my dealer yet regarding the new shocks, so i'd better call them tomorrow.
Fingers crossed then...

Insurance for me was more than I expected. I swapped a policy over from a 1600GTL when it had just a month to run. The renewed policy starting on 1 Sep is about the same price as the 1600, ie £325.00. That's with BMW (Devitt/Equity Red Star). It wasn't much better from the likes of Carole Nash whose cover was not quite so good. I expect if you want to play you have to pay. I did notice looking back to 2012 I paid £211.00. And they reckon insurance has settled down.

I get stung every year by the insurence company's as my bike is parked away from home, only about 150yards as the crow flys
I'm hoping the fact I've gone for factory alarm that it may reduce it but I'm sure the increased value of the bike will cancel that out?

I understand that the BMW alarm is not of an approved type that will lower premiums, I may be wrong but am sure I have read that on another forum.

I believe the problem with the alarm, made by Metta, is you can choose not to set it every time you switch off. Having a built in immobiliser does help. Also all new BMWs for the last couple of years are delivered with Datatag. That should help. Still expensive though, but it is a premium motorcycle.
