Re: Leaking bevel box

From what I can see on the MAX BMW Parts Fiche, the Hexhead has either a GEN 1 or GEN 2 bevel box.

The latter GEN 2 bevel box looks like it has the same speed sensor as the Camhead.

Re: Leaking bevel box

AFAIK, the Hexhead bevel box only has one drain/fill plug which is why it needs to be swung down to drain.

Whereas, the Camhead bevel box has got a separate drain and fill plug.

Re: Leaking bevel box

Sorry, I don't know the answer but it begs the question, "why are the speed sensors different".

I suppose, you can only try it and see what happens.

Re: Tools 1st oil change

What would you do next. If you've put 3.8 litres of oil in and haven't run the engine to fill the oil filter, I'd be surprised if the oil level is too high. Whilst watching the sight glass, run the engine, the oil level will be seen to reduce. With the help of an assistant, lean the bike over on th...

Re: Tools 1st oil change

I did figure out this is what happens if you leave the rubber oil filter O-ring from previous filter on and then screw in the new filter and it's O-ring. Coincidently, yesterday, I did an oil & filter change on a 2007 GS and the oil filter O-ring remained stuck to the engine. It was removed bef...

Re: Post clutch replacement bleeding issue

Haven't done this myself but this thread shows how to "back-fill the system" as per the Haynes manual.

Re: Castrol Power 1 Racing now “ Ultimate” ?

If you don't mind switching to Motul (same spec.), EasyRider identified this for £45 with free delivery.

(I've supplied Motul oil to a BMW dealer and they were quite happy to use it).

Survey of RT ages.

To back up Doctor T's thread, "How old is your RT", here is the survey.

If you have a 2005 or earlier model, post here. The poll will only allow 20 options.
