Re: Exploding shaft drives

It may not be in the BMW R1200RT service schedule but regular inspection and lube of at least the "rear" Universal Joint and Splines is advisable. There are many horror stories out there which no doubt can be attributed to the Out of Sight, Out of Mind syndrome. It's a relatively straight ...

Re: Duration of RT Ownership

Lovely. I'm glad you're happy with the Yeti. 😊 Do I get the idea?. Yes, I got the Idea you wanted me to explain my comment on the GS being imo a superior bike after your first post. Maybe I'll do a write up one day as to why "I" think it's the Better bike. Brilliant, we'll look forward to...

Re: Duration of RT Ownership

By owning 3 GS's whilst owning a 2011 RT and riding the later model RT's for comparison. It's not really rocket science is it? I prefer the GS. 👍 I prefer my Skoda Yeti over my previous Ford Focus because. 1. Having bad knees the higher Yeti seat allows easier access. 2. The Yeti rear seats are rem...

That doesn't really answer my question now does it. Test Ride not necessary as I have owned a GS so I was particularly interested in how you have formed your own personal opinion.
Thanks.

jesim1 wrote: Fri Nov 15, 2024 3:13 am I know some will be unhappy with this comment, but for me at least, the older RTs just didn't have it, there were better bikes around for less money, the more modern ones however, thinking 1250 onwards, brought an old and ailing motorcycle back from the brink
Rubbish.

Re: Duration of RT Ownership

Eight and half years now for my 2011 RT. I only keep it as a winter hack because it's not worth much. I've had 3 GS's in that time (far superior bike) but might be tempted with a 1300 RT when they come out. Each to his own, but I would be interested to learn just what makes the GS "a far super...

Re: Metzler Roadtec 01 SE tires

I fitted the same Tyres to my Twin Cam and they also are a bit noisy. The Scalloping" you mention does seem to be a feature of these tyres (as is the case with some other brands) and this is what causes the noise (when leaning over in a bend) I must admit to being surprised as in comparable tyr...

Re: Deletion of Private Messages (Sucessfully)

Problem solved.
What I was doing after going through the deletion was "going back" to previous pages. I have tried closing down the forum after the deletion then re-opening and that works fine.
