Re: Found a lightweight bike

Re: What did you do today?

Finally got around to replacing my fuel strip last week using the new oe part. It's nice to have it working again and this time both the fuel level and remaining range seem spot on. The last one was terrible but I guess you never know whether it was calibrated properly when fitted.
I wonder how long ...

Re: what is my bike worth?

Good call.
I didn't want to say it at the top of the thread but with the mileage, fork seal, ABS and fuel strip issues I would have said £1.5k - £2.0k.

It's a shame but there are so many out there - any buyer that couldn't do their own spannering would just move on to the next one and any one that ...

Re: Wash out

Ironically, as I bought my RT as a winter hack, I took it to West Cork last summer instead of my Buell. Very nice it was too as the weather was not great.
This year I'll be watching the weather forecast closely as I'm using the unfaired Buell as my daily again at the moment.

Re: New Third Party Fuel Strip design

Interesting. Mine failed this weekend.
I'm not in a hurry to do anything but will be interested to hear any feedback. In the back of my mind I had planned to use the updated BMW part. Mine was replaced at 10k miles (many years ago) and the odo reads a little over 40k now.

Re: Windscreen comparisons...

I fitted a V-Stream (the lower one) to my 2010 RT a few months ago. I've also noticed a significant increase in air flow around the lower arms and a reduction around the shoulders.
The original screen only offered clean air around my head at the very top of its travel and even then a wind direction ...

Re: Your Motorcycling Training/History Etc.

DT50MX - the first bike I rode.
It was my brother's - I rode it up the driveway and into the garage on the night he got it home, didn't notice that the kick start had gone up my trouser leg and toppled over to the right when I came to a halt.

Re: What did you do today?

Got my old Buell Ulez tested this afternoon. Have barely used it for the last few years because it was £12.50 every time I went out. Will be nice to give it some longer runs. Thankfully the RT and my Buell Ulysses are already compliant.

Re: Your Motorcycling Training/History Etc.

No training, I just bolted a sidewinder sidecar on to a Yamaha RD350LC and took my test on it..........

.....since then the only training I've done is on track.

Re: Exhaust Silencer

The body of the silencer split near to the mounting bracket on the rhs. It's a Buell specific issue but the quality of materials and construction were simply not up to the job.
With the baffles fitted it felt very flat compared to standard; with them removed it was noisier than the APH and still not ...

Re: Exhaust Silencer

I have both cat and de-cat oe systems for my Buell Ulysses + a very nice APH handbuilt system. The APH is beautifully made (unlike the previous Remus which fell to bits) sounds great and gives excellent power/torque but I find myself riding much slower than with the oe systems because of the volume ...

Re: Part exchange value

If they're not prepared to offer fair money for a trade in it kinda removes one of the few reasons to pay inflated main dealer prices for a secondhand bike.

Re: problem with DVLA

It's surprising that an ANPR camera hasn't picked it up before now.

...and ditto on the hard copies. I have all the apps on my phone and the emails but I still print out copies of licence, MOT, registration, Insurance, ferry tickets and hotel bookings before any long trip.

Re: What did you do today?

I can't get over my local labour charges. Our MOT place and garage (no brand speciality in a unit on a residential street behind houses) charges £115 + VAT labour. Our main dealer, just around the corner, wanted to charge £198 + VAT (I assume their hourly rate) to "investigate" the worn anti-roll ...
