Re: Powering iPhone using Aux Port

Thanks for this.

From what I can see online, there are inexpensive 20-30 bucks) double USB-A replacement ports and more expensive One USB-A and one USB-C replacement ports, roughly 75 bucks USA money from various retailers or on ebay 44 bucks. I don't see any double USB-C port versions. . . .

Re: Powering iPhone using Aux Port

Guess I look up how to replace the plug as you have done. Your assessment matches mine. Thanks!

Powering iPhone using Aux Port

Bought a gizmo to plug into the "Hella" auxiliary power port on my 2011 RT. On brief review it seemed to work fine, but on a two hour run to do some camping prior to our USA July 4 holiday it proved entirely unreliable, the phone indicating charge on then off over and over. Later use of the same ...

Wunderlich bars and highway pegs

Wunderlich Bars (I think?) and highway pegs?

I see old references here to highway pegs working on Wunderlich Bars, which I think is what's on my 2011 R1200RT.

A pair of one inch pegs way too big. Super accurate measurement of the horizontal bar on my crash bars = .8 inch or about 20mm. No pegs I ...

Re: Windscreen comparisons...

Had it out today for the first time. New shield report....

Impressions: Not the vast improvement I was hoping for. The additional two inches in height? At similar raise (requiring less "up button" push than with shorter OEM shield, of course) little difference at head level (makes sense) but ...

Re: Windscreen comparisons...

Installed the V-Stream and once again, holy cow what an easy install compared to, say, doing an aftermarket screen on a 1986R80RT back in the day, an hours long affair that involved much cursing, drilling, perilous bending, and etc.

Pity no aftermarket screen I looked at includes the "vent" option ...

Re: Windscreen comparisons...

The V-Stream which is two inches taller than stock (26" I think that is?) arrives tomorrow. Speedy shipping!

Re: Windscreen comparisons...

Hearing no wisdom hereabouts I went with the Vstream.

Compared to changing screens on older bikes, what a sweet deal this bolt-on screen deal is, I look forward to installing the new screen....

Windscreen comparisons...

I spent a few minutes looking and didn't find a post about windscreen comparisons. I think the stock shield is a bit less than I want for wind protection. I see three options

V-Stream
Parabellum
Wunderlich

Any common wisdom about the differences between these options?

Thanks all.

Re: Where is the other end of this wire I wonder

Great video, I've seen some other vids by this guy.

Unfortunately, this raises more questions than it answers. The video shows "rider right" connector, where the wire that I'm tracking down is "rider left" and does not connect into wiring high up on the bike but dives down into a netherworld ...

Last time I was looking at this I thought I did that and could not see where the wire hooks into the harness. I will take another peek sometime. Tx,

Where is the other end of this wire I wonder

My new to me 2011 R1200RT came with a 14 year old nav system in a mount above the speedo etc. I decided it should come out, so I unmounted the mount and detached the wire from the nav unit and discovered the wire plunges deep into the bowels of the machine. But not to the battery directly, so there ...
