Nevermind. I'm a clown. Finished the other seasonal maintenance issues, and dove back into the tensioner. All I needed was a slim screwdriver to give a bit more leverage to get out the original tensioner. The spring was noticeably shorter than the spring of the new tensioner. Engine starts clack ...

Managed to find a link to a series of pictures showing Tensioner (both sides) replacement on what looks like an R1200 Twin Cam Engine of the 2010 / 2013 vintage. (Like Mine). CORRECTION. The engine shown in the pictures is a Hex Head, not a Twin Cam.
These pics clearly show the Right Side ...

NO...
On th R1200RT it is impossible to get the left tensioner out because the telelever joint is in the way!
So the telelever must come off! It's not an easy job!
