New to the Fold

Post by Moki »

After 45 years of street riding, I am considering a BMW for the first time. I may commit this week to a fly and ride to get one.
looking at a newer R1250RT. I have been a "Sport Touring" Rider since 1980, making all kinds of bikes work for me over the years based on budget and my experience.
I ride fairly quickly still, and I love a sporty, comfy bike that will eat miles.
Since 2007 I've owned lots of bikes but have most enjoyed my Tiger 1050, KTM 1190S, 1290S and my current ride, a Tiger 900 Gt Pro
I also ride a lot of dirt and dual sport: 300 and 500 KTMs for dirt and an Aprilia Tuareg 660 at the moment
I live in Western Colorado

Looking to get back into some longer trips hence the R1250RT. I will likely want/need to convert to regular handlebars due to my age, injuries and T-rex like arms. and maybe a way to get some highway pegs due to knee replacement
I am looking forward to a brand new chapter in my riding history.

Welcome to the forum 🍻 I've not tried them myself? But I reckon a set of medium hight ape hangers for your T-Rex arms could be a good seating position on the RT 🤔

Ps. How do you scratch your arse?

Again. Welcome to the forum 👍

Hi Moki.

The problem with the RT is that once you've ridden it for a while you'll wonder how you ever managed longer journeys on other machines!

No longer "Considering": Put a deposit on '23 with 5200 miles. Lots of extras (Akropovic, Sargent seat, Tractive front and rear, engine guards, 719 black paint with pinstripes, etc etc etc
Picking it up Monday. Very excited!
