'16 1200 RT Headlight Confusion

Post by MisterD »

Hello to all -
Just brought home a 2016 1200 RT. There is a symbol on the dash - headlight out - and the center lightbulb does not operate either low/high beam.
The two outside lightbulbs operate high beam only. Is the center light the low beam? Do the lights on either side also light up on low beam?
Thanks for sharing the knowledge ---

The high beams are the two outer, the low is centre.

Depending on the specifications chosen at initial purchase you may have Angel Eyes day running lights, if not then your low beam centre light comes on with ignition.

It’s generally accepted that replacing headlight bulbs are considered a total PITA, Cyclops do an LED replacement but they are pricey and usually require a front end strip down to remove the headlight, the upside is they are very bright and last considerably longer.
My last piece of advice is that if you don’t have a headlight protector then buy one, a new headlight is into four figures!

Thank you for that Steve.
Yes - the bike has "Angel eyes".
Looks like removing the right speaker makes getting to the headlight possible.
Since it is the only bulb lit for low beam - I'll get to it soon.
