Windshield choice
My RT has a sport windshield that I'd like to replace. I can go OEM or aftermarket(new to BMW). Any advice appreciated. My riding is usually day trips with a couple of extended road trips during the year.

Re: Windshield choice
I had a Wunderlich Marathon on my R1250RT and it's great, but almost too great. In the winter & cold weather and with the screen raised it really does a good job blowing almost everything over/around you and you sit in a comfortable bubble of still air, but, and there's always a but, in the summer that same level of protection is just too much and and you just don't get the flow of air you need to feel comfortable. Don't get me wrong it's a great screen and I did over 25,000 miles sat behind mine, but after on particularly hot day and feeling a bit flush I bought a ZTechnik VStream screen.
It's smaller and you do feel a little bit more buffering on your arms, but in every other respect it's every bit as good, if not better than the Marathon screen. The top of the screen is lower at my ideal look over but still have good protection point, the clarity of the 'plastic' they use is way better and the look on the bike is a lot better blended in than the look how big I am the Marathon seemed to be.

Re: Windshield choice
I am 185cm tall and prefer riding with the standard seat in high position on 2015 R1200RT.
The OEM standard screen generated too much wind turbulence on my helmet. I've tried two different helmets but I wasn't happy, it was still too noisy.
I have Puig Touring screen now. It is taller and keeps the wind off my helmet even when I lower it to look over the top of the screen in the rains
It has two drawbacks though.
The first is that it creates a bit of back-draft on my helmet. It is not too bad, just as long as I remember not to ride with a naked neck. I love my neck-tubes anyway. But still, I will be thinking about drilling holes to the windscreen, to reduce the low-pressure situation.
The second is that my OEM screen provided more wind protection to my elbows. I tend to ride with MX/MTB hand position a lot - elbows wide. The Givi screen provides a tiny bit less protection.
I've tried the OEM screen back on my bike a few times, but neither the back-draft nor the elbow wind are annoying more than the wind turbulence and buffeting while I have the Puig screen on.
My preference is the Puig screen, based on my height. Also, I live in Ireland, so I need protection, as we do get only about 5 days a year with temperatures over 20 degrees. I never rode in temperatures over 30 degrees to miss any cooling (on my trip to Spain).
If you could could find somebody nearby, who would lend you the OEM screen they removed (or want to sell), try to borrow it (even for some small money) for an hour-long blast on a motorway in cold weather (= the worst case scenario). RT riders are friendly to other RT riders, and asking costs nothing.
tldr; try any you can borrow, and buy a taller one if you are a taller rider.

I am here to learn.

Re: Windshield choice
Bought a 2015 R1200rt in late August 2025.
The stock windshield put the airflow directly into my eyes in position to see over it.
decided I needed one with a back flip at the upper edge.
Purchased a 7Jurock, the lower one for $250.00.
I think it is similar design to Quite Ride that 7Jurock acquired.
Excellent, less buffeting and quieter.
Very satisfied.

Re: Windshield choice
I bought a Quiet Ride (as above) absolutely superb. I tried several alternatives prior to buying it, but this one stays on winter/summer.Jambriwal wrote: Sun Mar 01, 2026 11:26 pm Bought a 2015 R1200rt in late August 2025.
