Brake lever pivot

Post by audibob2 »

I need to remove my Front brake lever pivot pin, on my 2014 R1200rt but it is very stiff.
Apart from removing the pivot nut, is there anything else I should be doing in order to remove the pivot so I can lubricate it. ?

Take a look at the Normski video it may give you pointers he fits a ram mount to the clutch lever, it maybe the same for the brake.

Stu, do you mean the pivot pin is threaded?
I used a small clamp to move it so I am not convinced it is threaded through the housing. I did get my to move as far as the thread underneath is flush with the housing , but I cannot get the pin out any further.
Should I remove the lever assembly by removing the grub screw on the barrel and seperate it from the piston linkage.

I managed to get some WD 40 on the pivot pin, and push it down and tighten the nut again. The lever action is free, but I would like to know how to remove it correctly . On all my other bikes, the pivot pin just pulls out.

Are talking about the pin that holds the lever on or the one that pushes the brake piston?

I am asking should I be able to remove the torx25 headed brake lever pivot bolt on it own, or do I need to remove the whole brake lever assembly including the span adjuster.
