Please go to your bank and tell them what went on. You were scammed into sending money by bank transfer. There are a couple of forms to fill in. It may take a while, but there is a good chance you may get your money back.
Good luck

I think I must be philosophical about this and write it off to experience, after all, we're not talking about a life changing sum of money. If it was a deliberate scam then frankly it was an odd way of going about things - I mean, why would he confirm receipt of the money (paid by bank transfer btw) if there was no intention of sending the item? You would just disappear as soon as it hit his account surely?
Stu, I appreciate the offer but I don't think there's any point in involving the authorities in any way, and to be honest I'm not sure I'd know where to start. One thing I would be interested in, is knowing if the information you have (name, email etc) in any way lines up with the info he gave me to facilitate payment. Would that be possible, or do we run into major privacy issues?
Have you had any communication from the seller on this at all or has it still been radio silence?
I note that the seller was online on the 3rd May
