Can you suggest a code reader

Got my 1250 back yesterday from the steelers after annual service ( the last they will see) and a software update.

Navigation software is still unreliable :cry:

Once I got home first thing I did was connect the GS911 up and recalibrate the speedo to be accurate again.
then found they had not locked the seat down properly and there is a screw missing from the plastic at the back of the tank. :roll:

My wife and I engage in several risky hobbies including SCUBA, motorcycles, and general aviation. We used to have our SCUBA gear inspected annually, until we got on a boat for a week only to find on the first dive a regulator had not been properly reassembled. I used to have my motorcycles serviced at the manufacturer's dealership until a post-maintenance inspection (you do them, right?) found loose front-fork pinch bolts. I used to have a shop perform annual inspections on our aircraft until I had to abort a takeoff when I discovered the airspeed indicator was not working because the shop had not reconnected it.

For these activities--where proper maintenance can be life or death--I do my own inspections and repairs. If there is something wrong with the gear it's on me.

Reaping more benefits from buying the code reader. I had active codes because the exhaust flapper valve was seized up. A bit of time (20 minutes) spent exercising the valve and a spray can of high temp copper anti seize freed the valve up. Cleared the codes and rechecked for codes and it is all set to go!

That will just seize up again I recommend a servo eliminator by healtech and just remove the cables and motor and leave the flap open

Yes, I am well aware that that is a distinct possibility, especially where I live as it will be sitting through winter for a few months at least every year. The fact that it sat quite a bit the last couple of years with the previous owner is probably why it seized in the first place. I considered eliminating the servo and installing a Servo Buddy, and may do so in the future, but it wasn’t a bad job to do at all and saved me about $60.

No it sizes because it's a bad design and no amount of looking after it will stop it seizing

The heat will just burn any sort of lubrication and by nature there is always condensation available

I have tried it all thinking I could keep it free but there was even times it would seize again after as little as 500 miles
