2007 r1200rtp

Post by Gary0003 »

went out for my maiden voyage on my 77,000 miles rtp yesterday and noticed some vibration from the driveshaft I think. I have changed the oil in the rear diff and greased the rear splines - is there anything else I should do please?
do they normally vibrate a bit or is something worn out?

Might be worthwhile to check the driveshaft. Lots of videos on YouTube about BMW driveshaft issues.

Have you checked the UJ joins on the shaft?
Trust me I am a retired Doctor and lecturer at Oxford University of Structural and Mechanical/Electrical engineering.
May the shaft be with you

Not yet, is it difficult to remove the driveshaft?

I have never done so, but it doesn't look like it would be too tough. As I said, there are many videos on YouTube on the subject. You may not have to pull the shaft to check it.
