Occasionally when I start my bike it’s slow cranks on the first turn and causes a reset of some settings on the dashboard. I lose the digital speedo which goes back to the RT logo and also my indicator showing range resets to average consumption.
All the other starts go normally and they do not reset the settings it’s as though it has a flat battery for one crank every so often.
Anyone got any ideas? I was wondering about earth strap but I don’t know where it is.
NB: my bike is always trickle charged on the BMW charger to keep battery condition up. It’s a 2018 bike on the original battery.
I’m not looking for people’s best guesses but for product knowledge and people who’ve had the same mechanism of failure

Mine was doing this and a replacement battery was the solution!
I think these bikes are heavy on batteries!

If your battery is truly the original, and is 8 years old, it owes you nothing! It needs to be replaced. This will resolve your issue with almost 100% certainty, and will prevent you from getting stuck somewhere when the battery finally fails completely.
