Future 1250RT purchaser

Post by Noveus2 »

I have owner Gold Wings in the past but stopped riding in 2018. Want to start riding again and want to purchase a R1250 RT. How much different will it be for me, an older guy, to start riding a BMW? What can I expect as far as maintenance I should perform and should I buy an extended warranty on an RT with more than 30,000 miles?

Welcome to our site. You will find the RT a lot lighter than a GL. Ive owned both. The GL is a more sit-back bike, while the RT has more of a sport tourer sitting position. Servicing if done by yourself, is cheap, and no special tools are needed. As for the main dealer costs it is quite expensive but still cheaper than a main Honda dealer.
