Saw an idiot parked up at whiteway cafe. ex-police bike with a amber flashing light on a stork at the rear and two spot lamps where the blue lights were on the crash bars
He was dressed in black leather, Sam brown belt and a white helmet with 2 black strip's. I would say he was in his 30,s. at first I thought he was a copper.
I said to him if he likes to impersonate a police traffic officer? he didn't reply. So I said to the idiot, if I see him again dressed like that I will be reporting him to the police. haven't seen him since

Going slightly off topic, it's not unheard of for people to have 'lost' a driving licence group(s) when they get their licence back from the DVLA after a change in circumstances, and then for the DVLA to say, well can you prove you passed your test in 1979. Of course you can't.
You should by habit when sending any official documents off in the post take a scan or photograph your licence before you send it off, but it's also worth playing the DVLA at their own game. They have an online licence checker.

Enter your details, print it out or save it as PDF (or both), your choice but do it and keep it safe. I look at it as, it puts the ball back in their court if you've got evidence from their system to back your complain when you say, hey where's my motorcycle licence or whatever gone (not that I've ever used my entitlement to drive a steam road roller).

This happened to one of my friends, passed his test in the late 70s and rode bikes for a few years. Gave up riding until 2021 when he bought one of the new Royal Enfields, when he checked his licence the motorcycle entitlement was missing. Had to go through the process of retaking his test which cost a few hundred quid.

I presume he changed address several times over the years. Each address change prompted a renewal /update. The system went from a paper copy to photo card as part of this. Quite a few opportunities for the system to "mislay" his full record.

Dunno, but we've had a thread about it before (
viewtopic.php?p=47915&hilit=dvla#p47915 ) and I've heard similar stories elsewhere.

Allegedly it happened to a Police Traffic motorcyclist, had to retake his test. I take photographs of my licence before I send it in.

DVLA refused to accept photocopy as proof. Police motorcycle riders have to get their licence checked by police on a regular basis as part of the job. He had to retake the test as I remember reading at the time. A few years now. I always say it's lost and keep hold of old licenses after hearing about it.

I remember years ago when I was a traffic cop, getting called to Woodall services by VOSA. They’d been doing some spot checks on LGV’s parked up and had found a driver without an LGV entitlement. Turned out that he’d renewed his licence and CE was missing. He produced a photocopy of his previous licence which clearly showed he did have the entitlement. I told him to contact DVLA to get it sorted and let him go on his way.
