Ok just watch a few videos and 2 of the stated PR2 stopped production. Could they have just stopped selling them in certain counties?

Yes, I did.
Which book is that.Doctor T wrote: Mon Apr 24, 2023 7:08 pmLooking in my book I can see no approved tyres for 2007 bike.
All the tyres will have the same load ratings, IMO, that is why fitting GT's etc. may not be necessary. I've used tyres without version codes and not experienced any problems.Doctor T wrote: Mon Apr 24, 2023 7:19 pmi usually go by the weight the tyre can take i:e 73w for the rear and 58w for the front.
There's one slight difference. I was running the Pilot 2's which have just over 10k miles on themDavid. wrote: Mon Apr 24, 2023 4:19 pm Rode yesterday for the first time in the wet on the new for this season Dunlop RoadSmart II's without any problems.
The other bikes in the group had Michelin Pilot Road 2's and Michelin Road 6's, (2 bikes).
We all rode together at the same pace in the same conditions. Therefore, my conclusion is all three tyres are as good as each other in the wet.

it won't make any difference Doctor. I've used Pilot Road 2's,3's,4's,5gt's. I usually get around 10 to 11k miles out of a pair of tyres no matter what model. The Road 6's on my GS are wearing very well at 6k though, unfortunately I won't find out how far they go as I'm getting a new GS on SaturdayDoctor T wrote: Mon Apr 24, 2023 7:45 pm The only reason looking for a gt tyre is my front after 5000 miles have gone square. I thought fitting a more rigid gt tyre may last longer
I know someone who had Michelin Road 6's fitted by a BMW dealer. Their recommendation was GT for the rear only, standard tyre on the front. This is not an unusual situation, was the same when I used Metzeler Z6's, only the rear had a version code.Doctor T wrote: Mon Apr 24, 2023 7:45 pmThe only reason looking for a GT tyre is my front after 5000 miles has gone square. I have confidence in the tyres but no confidence in our shite roadssimbo wrote: Mon Apr 24, 2023 7:48 pm There's one slight difference. I was running the Pilot 2's which have just over 10k miles on them![]()
Seriously though. I don't think there are any particular bad tyre's for bikes. Just riders who have no confidence in their tyre's, especially when you throw a bit of rain into the mix.
You was absolutely fine in the wetsakm wrote: Mon Apr 24, 2023 8:19 pm I have confidence in the tyres but no confidence in our shite roads
And I turn in to a right fanny in the wet![]()
I got home and thats all that matters right
I wouldnt think it would make any diffrence to longevity but will make a diffrence in the event of a puncture which may mean diffrence between staying upright.Doctor T wrote: Mon Apr 24, 2023 7:45 pm The only reason looking for a gt tyre is my front after 5000 miles have gone square.
