Just got confirmation from our dealer that this recall is for GSs but is also being applied to authority RTPs and civilian RTs classed as arduous duty bikes.

Rather concerning!, what does arduous really mean…. I sometimes ride hard whilst on my own but otherwise 2 up and we both have ‘ full figures’ . Here’s hoping the gearbox doesn’t explode anytime soon!.

I recon arduous in the GS(A) world means being airborne. Issue is to address when the bike lands while still on full throtle. Ah, just seen the title of the vid also includes RT-Ps.

So in simple English, I own an early 2018 R1250RT (as in one of the first 1,000 produced) and because it's a bog standard consumer model I won't get the recall. Right?

I see the R1250RT is on the list but what does “official only” mean ?

Official means bikes that have been designated as arduous duty by BMW. So RTp, and civvy spec Blood Bikes. Our 1250RTs which are civilian spec, but marked up, have all had the recall completed.

Mr BMW is a bit more cunning. All the arduous duty bikes are registered with BMW and they tell us when it needs to go to the dealer for recalls and if we don't follow their guidance, then all bets are off. We had new shafts on a 2015 RTp, a 2019, 2020 and 2021 RT

I’m learning fast about bmw… certainly not the best experience so far. Even whilst on holiday last week I went into Oxford motorrad for a look aroun and chat, 5 members of staff there and not one of them said hello…

That's like riding another make of bike and acknowledging 5 bmw's and not 1 replying, it's a bmw thing
