BMW R1200RT/R1250RT Forum

Hi all

Can anybody tell me what the latest version of the software is for the R1250 RT please? I am due to have my annual service in March and would like to ask the dealer to update the software as part of this if it is required. Also...... if the software does need updating is this included with the service or does it come as a pricey extra!

I’m looking forward to any replies on this topic as I’m about to pick up a 2021 RT LE but I hear there was an update in 2022 and I’d like the MOTORRAD dealer I’m buying from to update it.

I can help you with that because I did have the latest version of the software installed by BMW Motorrad (Rotherham) on March 19th 2023 when I last had it serviced. That version is: 013_013_020 I was just wondering if there is an even more recent edition - which there may not be of course - meaning I am indeed running the latest version as above.

I just purchased a 23 RT, got about 150 miles on her now software version is 013_014_020

I was also wondering about the latest version, with your msg looks like I got it!

As of February 2025, the latest known TFT software version for the BMW R1250RT is 014_012_021, released around mid-2024. This update significantly improved connectivity, particularly enhancing the stability of the Motorrad Connected app on iPhone devices.

I just checked my bike, and the version I have is S/W 014_013_030

Is this the latest software version? Anyone?

yes 14_13_30 was the last revision which came out in mid 2024. Many of us are eagerly awaiting the next version due in March which we hope will resolve a number of issues around menu options resetting themselves, radio switching off, comfort turn indicator on setting reverting to off etc,,

I'll be sending my bike in for service later this week, and the dealership mentioned there's a new update available. I'm excited to see if it addresses the existing bugs.

Has anyone already installed this update? Did it resolve the issues?

I'm dropping mine off tomorrow for Thursday mileage service and a bulletin driveshaft replacement. Plan on asking if they will do it since they will have it over night. Will report back.

If anyone has the new release number that would be awesome to have.

UPDATE: Got my bike serviced today, and they also updated the software to S/W Version: 014_015_020.

Noticed some nice improvements—turn indicators now stay as configured, and during a one-hour ride, the phone/Bluetooth connection remained stable with no dropouts. So far, so good!

Thats very good news indeed!!
I will be ringing my dealership on Monday.
