Anyone use Hippo Hands on their RT? Heated gloves?

What do most of you fellow RT riders do to keep your hands warm on the RT during cold winter months? Does anyone use Hippo Hands? I have them on my GS but haven’t figured a way to use them on my RT with no supportive handlebar guards. I do own Gerbing heated gloves but dislike them because they are so bulky and I don’t like all the tethering to the bike with all the electric cables required. Anyone have experience battery heated gloves?

Have you got heated grips, if so, this may be of interest as an alternative.

Richa Warm Grip GTX gloves, https://www.motolegends.com/richa-warm- ... s-in-black

"There is no insulation on the palm. What this does is allow the heat from the grips to transfer directly and efficiently to the palm. All the insulation is on the back of the hand. The Warm Grip delivers the warmth of a winterised glove, but without any of the bulk. This isn't going to be the very warmest of gloves. Rather, it is going to deliver some of the warmth of a light, winter glove, without the bulk. If you don't have heated grips, however, this glove may not be for you."

On my RT I use heated gloves and heated grips, I use the same combination on the GS as well. I've got some neoprene hand muffs on my scooter and they work well at keeping your hands dry and warm while wearing light winter gloves with no heated grips.

I tried Hippo Hands last year and was not happy with them. I was on an 8 lane expressway in heavy stop and go traffic. I pulled my right hand out of the glove momentarily and could not get my hand back to the throttle and brake. It was a very scary second or two and a very dangerous situation. I immediately ripped them off and left them in the street. I will never use them again. :o

I like the smaller Rogue Hippo Hands on my GS but feel the full-size Hippos are too cumbersome and restrictive. They do work, however. I will ride down to below freezing on the GS. (What can I say, I get bored!)

I never thought of adding hand guards to the RT to support the Hippos. Not sure about the aesthetic, though.

I don’t have any winter riding experience yet on the RT. I was curious if the better wind protection would make it easier in the cold. But I guess the hands are still exposed.

No experience of gs but fairing on RT does keep wind and rain off the hands. I even use a short cuff not fully winter glove.

Well THAT’S great news! 👍 I never realized the aero was that good.

I rode in 29 degree (-3 Celsius) temperatures a little while ago across northern Arizona and my hands were fine with the grip heater on high and Thinsulate gloves. I VERY rarely ride in temperatures that might lead to frozen stuff on the road. So, I'll stick with the heated grips and RT fairings.
