Keeping Rear Shock Clean

Not strictly maintenance, so may be in the wrong section?

Where I live, I have to use a tidal causeway to get home. So I need to be on top of corrosion prevention. So far I've had a regime that has worked on all my bikes. However, on the RT, I'm finding it difficult to get into the rear shock to keep it really clean. Has anyone got a trick or tool they use, to really get in there?

Thanks

These are pretty good for getting in those hard-to-reach places, but it is difficult getting at the shock. Perhaps a variety of bottle brushes may be ok?

Once clean, I wonder if something like this rear shock guard could be modified or fabricated to fit.

(The above item from Motorworks is listed to fit a 2003-07 GS).
